Jo Malone London Celebrates the Season with an Evening Designed by Cheng Bao Phuong

This year-end, Jo Malone London turned to interior designer and CBP Deco founder Cheng Bao Phuong to help shape the setting for its "Fun and Games" celebration in Ho Chi Minh City — an evening that brought together the city's fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle circles under one roof.

It is not a role the British fragrance house extends often. Jo Malone London's events are typically built around the brand's own creative direction; inviting a single designer to lend her point of view to the room — and to appear as one of the evening's central figures — is a distinction the house reserves for collaborators whose sensibility it considers genuinely aligned with its own.

A Room Built on a Single Idea

The theme, spelled out in giant gold-rimmed Scrabble tiles at the room's centerpiece — Fun and Games — ran through every layer of the space. An oversized chess set stood sentinel beside the Christmas tree; roulette-striped gift boxes in red, white, and blue stacked like a winning hand; playing cards scattered across black-and-white checkerboard table runners at every place setting.

It is the kind of detail-driven, collector's-eye styling that has defined CBP Deco since its founding — objects and colour used not as decoration, but as a language.

An Evening Among Familiar Faces

Guests moved through a room set for an intimate dinner rather than a brand activation — each place marked with a hand-lettered card, a Jo Malone London gift box wrapped in coloured ribbon, and a private view of the brand's seasonal collection displayed like objects in a gallery.

Phuong herself moved between host and guest of honour throughout the evening, taking the microphone to welcome the room before settling in among friends and familiar faces from Ho Chi Minh City's design and fashion circles.

A Continuing Presence in Luxury Lifestyle

The Jo Malone London collaboration follows Phuong's earlier partnership with Tiffany & Co. — part of a growing pattern of major luxury houses turning to her not for commercial styling work, but to lend a room, or an evening, the specific point of view that has defined CBP Deco since its founding.

Her seat that evening was marked simply: Ms. Cheng Bao Phuong — a small detail, and, in its way, the clearest sign of how far the relationship between designer and brand has come.
